Water preparation
Starting a new tank can normally take several weeks before fish or coral are ready to be introduced. That time can be reduced dramatically by using Special Blend from the Ecological Laboratories Microbe-Lift range. It contains microbes that will do all the work for you in a matter of days. You will find upon using Special Blend that it has a strong smell, that is sulphur that is used to act as a preservative for the microbes and will dissipate quickly.
If you are interested in Special Blend then you may also like to take a look at Nite-Out from the same range. When starting a new tank, high levels of nitrites can be a problem and as the bacteria in Special Blend are nitrifying bacteria you'll need a nitrite remover. If used in conjunction with Special Blend, Nite-Out removes the nitrites and also has the added benefit of removing ammonia as well. The two products will then work together in a cycle, providing the perfect solution to starting a new tank. Python EggLite
The EggLite from Python Products is very versatile. This compact 10 watt spot light is submersible, therefore it can be used for a variety of applications. It is suitable for fresh or salt water as well as dry conditions. It comes complete with its own transformer, is easy to set up and can be poised at angles and used with the included colour lenses to create magenta, blue, green and yellow effects. The manufacturers recommend it for many uses including aquaria, garden statuary, fountains, garden pool & ponds and patio accent lighting. Helios T5 Lighting
The helios is a twin ballast unit with individual switches, 3 metres of cable from ballast to tube socket. It includes a reflector and condensation cover.
